Vote for us on One Good Kiwi
Help us double the number of whānau and tamariki we reach through Shoebox Christmas
Kia ora e hoa!
Welcome to June! We’re about to kick off the process of connecting with schools and services to get set up for this year’s programme, but the rangatahi crew will talk more about that in the next newsletter…
For the last couple of months we’ve been slogging away really hard trying to find funding to keep this kaupapa alive. (Cold emails/LinkedIn messages to businesses, untold re-written funding applications, I won’t depress you with all the details!). We’ve been doing this because if we can’t keep our rangatahi coordinators on the ground with what they need, we can’t run the programme - it’s just too big now to operate on goodwill and between-the-cracks time. But it’s not all doom and gloom…
We’re really grateful and excited to be featured on the One Good Kiwi app this month.
If you’re not familiar with it, One Good Kiwi is an app from One (as in, the company-formerly-known-as-Vodafone) to support community kaupapa and projects like ours. Each month, One contributes a portion of their revenue to community outcomes. And the cool bit is, you get to decide where that money goes by voting for your favourite project. Basically, you’re donating on behalf of One - it doesn’t cost you anything!
This month, we're in the running to receive a portion of that funding, and we need your help. Any money donated by One will help us get our rangatahi development programme into schools, to support even more young leaders to run their own Shoebox Christmas projects (while receiving NCEA credits). By doing this, next year we’ll be able to double the amount of whānau and tamariki we can help, and we’ll be able to help even more the year after that.
Here's how you can help:
Click the button above, scroll to Shoebox Christmas and click the coin to give tokens (up to 5) to our kaupapa.
Download the One Good Kiwi app from the App Store or Google Play and vote again.
Share this call out with your friends and whānau (the more votes, the more One donates).
It's that simple. Every vote counts, and your support this month means less time writing funding applications, and more time doing the actual work.
Thank you for your continued support and belief in the mahi we’re doing with our communities.
Ngā manaakitanga,
Pera
