Kia ora team,
I hope you’re having an awesome weekend.
I’m at Mum and Dad’s trying to make as much of a dent in the emails as possible. Apologies in advance if you’ve been waiting a few days for a reply from any of us - the local inboxes our rangatahi look after have been overflowing and so have the couple I take care of, but we’re getting through them!
This has been our hardest year by far. Right across Aotearoa, we’ve struggled to find enough gifters to help the growing number of whānau and tamariki we’re here for. Some of the amazing gifters who have taken part in previous years are now facing much more difficult times than before. We’ve had more new services and organisations asking for help than ever, and a huge increase in families reaching out directly to us asking for support because they’re not in a position to give their children the Christmas they wish they could. These emails are heartbreaking to read but we’re working through how we can help these families too.
The we in that sentence includes you. Because Shoebox Christmas doesn’t exist without you and the help you give either through signing up or spreading the word. A couple of quick callouts of where we need our collective efforts and help.
Taranaki needs more gifters, in particular for our South Taranaki tamariki - you can join our amazing gifters here: South Taranaki Shoebox Christmas.
Auckland needs gifters, especially in our St. Vinnies (drop offs all over Auckland). You can help or spread the word here: St. Vinnies Shoebox Christmas
Porirua and Lower Hutt still have lots of tamariki we kind gifters to match with, just search Porirua or Lower Hutt in the Rohe (area) field. www.kohatree.co.nz
You can click the ‘Only show open projects’ and you’ll see the schools or services where we still need help. See demo here.
If you’re not able to help out, please lend a hand by sharing those links. Shoebox Christmas only works because we’re a community - and we need every one of us right now.
Let’s go whānau!

I have not been able to register. Have tried many times.
I've been trying to register and am getting REALLY frustrated. What do you mean by handle?? I did this last year, gave to Keith Street school. Why on earth is it so hard this year? You ask for a code, then don't send me one.
